It'll be a little quieter on here this week, as one third of the triumvirate that is "Landers And The Rev (With Carl The Producer)" is going away for a few days.
Yep, I'm heading down to the Big Smoke for a four day 'Training Event', which is definitely not a holiday, no siree bob. I'll be heading down this evening, sampling the delights of the M6 Toll road, and I won't be online again until next weekend. Instead I'll be sunning myself at the Apple Training Centre in West Drayton, just off the M4, where I'll be improving my technical instruction skills. Nice.
And even though I've not even left on my trek yet, I've already had experience of the wonders of hockey camaraderie. Most of my London-based friends are people I met through hockey - they're mostly Knights, Racers or Slough supporters - and they're already drawing up plans to make sure I'm looked after during my stay in the big scary city. I've even been asked if I want to bring my kit along and take part in one of the London Legion's training sessions, an offer which I fully intend on taking them up on! (Cheers guys!)
Hockey's a great thing. I don't know of any other sport where the fans look after each other so much. A quick look at the messages of support that we've received from the likes of Rick Strang and the offer of subsidised tickets and travel that the Racers are planning for Phoenix fans all goes to show that hockey fans are the best. I'm being looked after, we're being looked after, and the feeling I get from the sport is that the people involved in ice hockey will do anything to help each other out, and to me that's just phenomenal.
See you all next week!
p.s. A note to all would-be burglars - my place isn't going to be empty as the missus isn't coming with me. And take my word for it, she can do a lot more damage to a would-be burglar than I can..... so don't even think about it!
