Great game this week and things are beginning to flow a little bit. We achieved the remarkable feat of actually having the sound up and running, with not one but two microphones, in just twenty odd minutes. Everything was nice and relaxed, going well, time to hit "play" as the fans come in and...
"Why is the music so quiet?"
Somehow, something had happened. A button pressed or not pressed. Either way, the output was far too quiet and yet again we didn't get a smooth start. Eventually the right button was pressed, which meant everyone got a huge earful of AC/DC.
Oops.
It was more relaxed this week, and to be honest from my point of view, a little too relaxed. Call it cockiness, but I made several mistakes in mic technique through a little over-confidence. Its inevitable - what seems difficult at first then feels simple, until you begin to take it for granted.
But we're getting there, and I was pumping the crowd up some more, it felt good and loud - Deeside might be half full, but I'm not being all self-congratulatory, the noise from the fans is amazing.
Managed to watch the game a bit more, actually seeing the team come together and Tony Hand has built a really nice team to watch. They play hockey the right way, puck possession, skill, speed. Against a tricky opponent, and with Zero Tolerance, the game was fast, free flowing and entertaining. We have the right product to sell once we get to Altrincham.
Finally mention to Dave Bodily, our scorer, who had taken note of all the hassles regarding the Phoenix Faithful patch. He presented me with this so I could pin it to my shirt and proclaim that I was a bigger fan than anyone. I'm still laughing about it now.
Next week, Ice Sheffield. And the story of Iggy.
