You think of it, we'll sell it.....

There is currently a thread on the official Phoenix website regarding fans' ideas for Phoenix merchandise. To be honest there are some pretty good ideas on there - there are also some naff ones too but I won't point those out for fear of reprisals. But I must admit I'm still awaiting the arrival of a few ideas which so far don't seem to have surfaced - the Commemorative George Awada Pillowcase, the Limited Edition Jayme Platt Fire-Guard, and the Industrial Strength Dave Clancy Wind-Sock.

Merchandising is always a tough nut to crack. Especially with Phoenix, as it's got to be 'just right'. Finding a product that has the quality, value and durability is something which the Phoenix organisation prides itself upon. This is why the Cuddly Carl Greenhous Doll never made it past the first stage of development - it just wasn't hairy enough, and besides which, George Lucas was threatening us for copyright infringement....

Local Phoenix celebrity Tambo The Exiled Eagle recently came back from watching the World Championships in Prague, where he picked up a few ideas for video clips and presentation materials. Tambo has presented some of these ideas to the Phoenix office, and whilst some of them were potentially very entertaining, we didn't think that the league would sanction an on-ice flaying of the referee. But it's a nice thought.
