Right. I know we're all frustrated and anxious to know what's going to happen with Phoenix next season. We're all chomping at the bit, waiting for Neil's announcement. We're all on the edge of our seats, keen to get the latest news as soon as it happens.
But why oh why oh why do people insist on e-mailing in to ask for the information?! A typical e-mail exchange goes like this:
Fan: "Dear Phoenix, when is the announcement coming?"
Me: "Any announcements will be posted on the official site as soon as they are released, so keep an eye on the site!"
Fan: "Yeah but when is the announcement coming?"
Me: "Keep an eye on the website and you'll know as soon as the rest of us know."
Fan: "Yeah but are we having a team or not next season?..."
At this point I always take a deep breath.
Put yourselves in my position. Do you honestly, hand on heart, swear to God, believe that anyone from Phoenix will reveal any news on anything to a single solitary person in an e-mail? Or do you think that, y'know, maybe, we might just post it on the front page of the official site for everyone to read at once? Hmmmm. Tricky one that....
I appreciate that the lack of news is making people edgy, but e-mailing, phoning, or turning up on the Phoenix Office doorstep isn't going to make the news come any faster, and even if it was here, we wouldn't break it to just one person.
So please, avid Phoenix fans whose patience we appreciate, take a breath yourselves and sit tight, and for the love of all things good, think twice before hitting the send button! ARGH!
