Been kind of wondering, in that wacky way that I occasionally do.
Sven Goran-Eriksson got well and truly stitched up by the News of the World, which posted such revalations as Rio Ferdinand was lazy, Wayne Rooney had a tough upbringing, etc, etc. Now the front and back pages are full of minor tittle-tattle about players who are on the move in the transfer window, agents touting their wares. Basically a whole lot of heat, but not a lot of light, because after all "Something may happen" is not much of a story.
So, along comes Mike Newall. Manager of Luton, he came out and publicly said that he had been offered bribes to sell his players. He was willing to back it up. In public. Bribery and corruption in football is a heck of a story.
Odd then, that the papers haven't been focusing on that.
You'd almost think they were complicit in the whole thing.
