Last night was a big night for Phoenix. Sheffield Scimitars had invited the team to take part in a pre-season challenge match, and it was the first time back in competition for a Phoenix team that was mothballed over two years ago. A sizeable Phoenix following turned up to see the eleven outskaters and two netminders take to the ice, and the mood in the place was bordering on ecstatic. The huge cheer that greeted the opening face off and marked the return of the Phoenix was a cheer that sent a shiver down many a spine. The game itself was a cracker, with both teams giving it their all, but Phoenix coming out on top, with a 6-0 scoreline sparking much rejoicing.
With myself on cameraman duties, Landers providing web updates via the team forum, and Carl The Producer in the stands looking after two little people he'd Produced earlier (along with Mrs Carl The Producer), it was almost like it was back to old times.
The Phoenix is back!
